STALKER 2 Update 2.0 Gets Full VR With Hand Tracking via UEVR Fork

A UEVR fork makes STALKER 2 playable in full VR after Update 2.0's Unreal Engine 5.5 move broke stock UEVR. Hands, holsters, scopes and scanner included.

STALKER 2 runs in full VR now, with your own hands. A modder called remleo got it working on their own fork of UEVR. Stock UEVR crashes on the game since Update 2.0 moved it to Unreal Engine 5.5.

remleo says they spent a few weeks fixing the fork and building a full VR profile on top. The result goes well past a headset view.

Hands are tracked. Reach over your shoulder for the rifle, pull the pistol from under your arm, grab a grenade from your chest. Let go and the item goes back in the holster. Raise the gun to your eye to aim, and scopes work. Glance at your left wrist for the bolt and knife. Pull the anomaly scanner out with your left hand, tap your temple for the head lamp. remleo also says the crashes are gone and both eyes now see the same lighting.

How to try it:

  1. Grab the archive from the release repo.
  2. Unzip it.
  3. Run the injector.
  4. Start the game.

remleo plays on a Quest over Virtual Desktop using VDXR, which they say runs best. The post doesn’t cover other setups. It’s an alpha, so expect rough edges. remleo wants bug reports and says they’ll keep fixing as they go. Support is on Patreon.

The interesting part is that a single Unreal Engine version bump was enough to break UEVR on the game. What to watch: whether these fixes make it back into mainline UEVR or stay on a separate fork, and whether the stability holds beyond one setup.
