SciresM pivots full-time to Atmosphere custom firmware for Nintendo Switch
Developer SciresM shifts focus to open-source Atmosphere custom firmware for the Nintendo Switch, committing to public WIP code.
Developer SciresM is shifting all focus to building Atmosphere, a new custom firmware for the Nintendo Switch. If you are tracking console hacking, this is the open-source shift we have been waiting for.
After teasing the project on Twitter, SciresM confirmed on GBAtemp that development will happen entirely in the open. Unlike previous console cycles where custom firmwares were cooked behind closed doors, every broken and work-in-progress commit will land straight in the Atmosphere GitHub repo as it gets written.
The roadmap is already live in the issues section. Before the core custom firmware hits usability, expect a diversion to land a publicly usable jamais vu proof-of-concept. No more secrecy. You can watch the commits roll in, set up your build environment, and see how the sausage gets made in real time.
