A new project called ps5-fake-sdk allows hobbyists to build games directly from the Unity and Unreal Engine editors for a jailbroken PlayStation 5, completely bypassing the official, licensed Sony SDK. Tested on a PS5 running firmware 6.50, the project provides a stand-in layer using the LLVM compiler, custom packagers, and a few original Sony tools where no open replacement exists yet.

Two versions of Unreal Engine support are provided: source patches for Unreal Engine 5.1.1 that add fake-sdk compilation and ray tracing fixes, alongside a ready-made unpacked Unreal editor weighing about 34 GB. Unity support focuses on Unity 2022.3.5f1 with its PS5 module enabled. In testing, Unity games installed successfully with working DualSense trigger effects, while Unreal Engine builds ran with Lumen hardware ray tracing at 60 fps using dynamic resolution.

To try it yourself, you need a Windows 10 or 11 PC and a jailbroken PS5 that supports unencrypted homebrew packages, such as setups using etaHEN, kstuff, or the a53_ppr_install payload. PlayStation Network features and save data systems remain untested or unsupported so far.
