GoldenEye 007 just hit the PS Vita via a native 1.0 release on GitHub Repo, giving handheld fans a reason to dust off their hacked consoles. If you have a hacked Vita, you can finally run Rare’s classic shooter natively.

The release includes the full single-player campaign featuring all 20 missions and end credits. It targets 60 fps, though busy areas and open levels drop down to roughly 40 fps. Sound effects and music are fully intact, and you get a custom Vita Options menu by pressing Select to tweak HUD, graphics, crosshairs, audio, and controls. In-game watch options work just like they did on the N64, and saves write straight to your memory card away from the app so future updates won’t nuke your progress. Shaders cache after the first compilation, meaning stutters only happen once.

You need a homebrew-enabled PS Vita running HENkaku or h-encore with VitaShell installed, plus your own US GoldenEye 007 ROM.

  1. Open VitaShell, navigate to ux0:data/, and create a folder named GoldenEye007.
  2. Copy GE007Vita.vpk and your US ROM in .z64 format (named either ge007.ntsc-final.z64 or baserom.u.z64) into that folder.
  3. Highlight GE007Vita.vpk in VitaShell and press X twice to install.
  4. Launch the game from the LiveArea.
