Bramble teases 3DS and DS emulation on PS4, but so far it's just a trailer
A project called bramble has announced 3DS and DS emulation on PS4 with a trailer. No build, version or compatibility details yet.
A project called bramble has announced 3DS and DS emulation on PS4, and the only proof so far is an announcement trailer. That’s the whole story right now. The one source we could reach is the trailer’s title on YouTube, pulled through a Google News feed. We couldn’t confirm the developer, the version, which games run, or whether anyone can download a build.
Why should a hobbyist care? Nintendo’s handhelds have been a core target of the scene for years, and running them on a PS4 would be a new combo. If it works, it’s one more reason to keep an old console plugged in.
Here’s my take, and it’s opinion: announcement trailers are cheap. I’ve watched plenty of them over the years, from projects that shipped and from projects that quietly vanished. The scene has a long habit of showing a video first and asking everyone to be patient later. Some of those efforts grew into solid tools. Many never left a Discord server. Until there’s a build, a compatibility list or a changelog, treat this as a promise, not a product.
What to watch next: whether the developer posts a proper release page, what the PS4 setup actually requires (firmware, exploit path, anything that needs a modified console), and which emulation cores or code it builds on. Those answers will tell you more than the trailer does.
We’ll update this when there’s something you can actually test.
