AM2R Gets an Unofficial Port for the New Nintendo 3DS
AM2R has been ported to the New Nintendo 3DS, featuring a frameskip option and requiring community patch files.
If you still carry around a New Nintendo 3DS, you can now play AM2R on handheld hardware. Developer Osga21 has released a port of the fan project for the n3DS family of systems, making it playable on portable dual screens.
The port runs well based on early testing, though the developer notes it needs wider testing and hasn’t tried it on an original 3DS model. GameMaker, they note, isn’t the lightest engine. To help with performance, a frameskip option is included in the settings to lock the game at 30 frames per second.
How to Try It
- Grab the release files from the AM2R 3DS Codeberg repository.
- Provide your own original AM2R version 1.1 files.
- Patch them to version 1.5 using the community patcher.
- Run the conversion script (preferably on Linux) to change the files into a format the 3DS can read.
